The producer
Alamos Wines has more than 120 years of winemaking in Argentina. Bodegas Esmeralda S.A. is the registered producer entity. Malbec is the central grape, and Alamos Malbec is a wine.
Alamos Malbec ages on French and American oak before bottling. Alamos also makes an organic Malbec, Alamos Organic Malbec 2024, which gives the range a separate organic bottle alongside Alamos Malbec.
Place and vineyards
Where the wines begin
The vineyards lie beneath the Andes Mountains in Mendoza. Alamos sources grapes from high altitude sites in Luján de Cuyo and Valle de Uco. In these two Mendoza regions, elevation can slow ripening and help preserve acidity as the grapes mature.
Malbec is therefore tied directly to the place. The wine comes from mountain country, with vineyard sources identified through Mendoza rather than a single estate parcel.
