Why it matters

The producer

Bodega Aleanna produces El Enemigo Cabernet Franc 2021 and El Enemigo Malbec. Its vineyard program extends across Gualtallary, El Cepillo, Chacayes and Agrelo. Two site entries record high-density plantings of 8,000 and 10,000 plants per hectare.

The range extends beyond its red blends through Torrontés, Bonarda, Chardonnay, Semillón, Chenin, Syrah Viognier and Criolla. These wines place white grapes, red grapes and a co-fermented Syrah Viognier under the Enemigo Wines name, alongside the vineyard-specific Gran Enemigo bottlings.

Wines to know

The range in view

El Enemigo and Gran Enemigo follow two naming patterns. El Enemigo Cabernet Franc and El Enemigo Malbec carry grape names. Gran Enemigo single-vineyard wines carry the names Agrelo, El Cepillo, Chacayes and Gualtallary. As Bravas El Cepillo Malbec 2018 adds another site-bearing Malbec to the named red wines.

El Enemigo Cabernet Franc 2021 is from Uco Valley. Its composition is 90% Cabernet Franc and 10% Malbec, followed by 15 months in oak. Gran Enemigo Single Vineyard Gualtallary 2021 and El Enemigo Malbec 2021 complete the three named 2021 reds.
