Why it matters
The producer
Bodegas Lanzaga - Telmo Rodríguez was founded by Telmo Rodríguez in 1998 in Lanciego, Rioja Alavesa. Its organically farmed vineyards are shaped into field-blend expressions using native-yeast fermentation. Village wines ferment in concrete, while single-vineyard cuvées ferment in open wooden vats; production is divided between a modern village-wine facility and a century-old Haro cellar for old-vine single-cru bottlings.
Wines to know
The range in view
The range includes three village wines and four single-vineyard bottlings. LZ combines Tempranillo, Graciano and Garnacha from six estate vineyards, fermented and aged six to seven months in concrete; Lanzaga is the estate’s flagship village wine.
