The producer
Jean Claude Berrouet, who spent 44 vintages as winemaker at Château Pétrus, serves as Bodegas Tapiz's exclusive consulting winemaker. The Ortiz family founded Bodegas Tapiz in 2000 with its first vineyard purchase in Tupungato, then acquired a winery in Agrelo in 2003. Its named white is Tapiz Chardonnay Viognier, a Mendoza wine made from Chardonnay and Viognier.

Tapiz Chardonnay Viognier carries the Mendoza appellation in Argentina's Cuyo region. The Ortiz family's first vineyard purchase was in Tupungato, while the winery acquisition was in Agrelo. Mendoza names the wine; Tupungato and Agrelo name the vineyard and winery in the producer's history.
