Why it matters

The producer

Three brothers, Erielso, Juarez, and João Valduga, lead Casa Valduga with their children. The family arrived from northern Italy in 1875 and has maintained its wine culture on the same land through successive generations. Red wines intended for ageing mature in French oak before moving to underground cellars.

Place and vineyards

Where the wines begin

Arte Brut comes from Vale dos Vinhedos, where the family's first vineyards were cultivated. The winery's address is in Linha Leopoldina, Vale dos Vinhedos, Bento Gonçalves, Rio Grande do Sul.

Wines to know

The range in view

Casa Valduga produces sparkling, still wine, and Sur Lie labels, including Arte Tradicional Elegance, Premivm, Naturelle, Terroir, and 130 Brut. Premivm Brut received Double Gold at Vinus in 2024. For the 2021 vintage, Arte Brut uses 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir. Chardonnay contributes lightness and fruit, while Pinot Noir adds firmness. Sur Lie labels refer to wines matured on their lees, the spent yeast cells that can add creamy texture and savoury notes.

Note. Arte Brut's grape proportions vary by vintage, so one bottling's blend should not be applied to every release.
