Why it matters

The producer

Philippe Lejeune acquired Chambert in 2007 as a lifestyle change. He was a Parisian electronics and IT engineer. Lin Liu, a Master of Wine, shares ownership of the estate with him, and Stéphane Derenoncourt serves as consulting winemaker.

Chambert is the largest estate in Cahors with organic and biodynamic certification. Malbec accounts for 97 percent of the AOC Cahors vineyard and Chardonnay for 3 percent.

Place and vineyards

Where the wines begin

Chambert's vineyard has an average altitude of 300 metres, and only the best southeast facing slopes are planted with vines. White clay and limestone from oysters and fossilized marine life, coated in decomposed clay, produce mineral character in the wines. Red iron rich clay produces power and aromas of brooding black fruit.

Wines to know

The range in view

Grand Vin blends Malbec's power with the refreshing elegance provided by Chambert's limestone soils. Bistro wines are delicate, fruit forward and specially crafted for enjoyable everyday drinking.

Chambert Cahors Malbec 2025 is a Cahors red wine with blackberry, blueberry, plum, violet, juniper, licorice and mint. Its palate combines intense fruit with gentle spice, lively acidity and refined tannins. It is served at 16 to 18 degrees Celsius with lamb or beef, ideally grilled.
