Why it matters
The producer
Clos de la Bonnette is a Condrieu estate built around a vineyard site believed to have produced wine since Roman times. The property was abandoned and became overgrown after the Second World War. Its terraces were restored and new vines planted in 1999.
The red wines use oak without new wood, while filtration differs between the cuvées. Syrah Vieilles Vignes receives light filtration. Cisselande is produced unfined and unfiltered.
Place and vineyards
Where the wines begin
The estate's Rhône footprint reaches beyond Condrieu. It acquired two additional vineyards in the Côte Rôtie appellation in 2016 and 2019. Syrah Vieilles Vignes is produced on the heights of Ampuis, giving that bottle a defined hillside origin.
