Why it matters

The producer

Domaine Comtesse de Chérisey farms 9 hectares in Blagny and hand harvests the vineyards. Its named wines include Hameau de Blagny, Bois de Blagny Meursault and La Genelotte. La Genelotte receives 12 hours of settling before the juice is racked directly into 228 litre oak barrels.

Place and vineyards

Where the wines begin

Blagny sits in a remote corner of the Côte de Beaune, where the premier cru sites are limestone laden. Hameau de Blagny has old vines with roots deeply entrenched in marl subsoil, helping them find resources during Burgundy's increasingly frequent drought periods.

Wines to know

The range in view

The range is organized by named bottles. Hameau de Blagny is described through purity, minerality and depth, with lime blossom and acacia. Bois de Blagny Meursault is very fruity, with white flowers and exotic notes, and shows very fine purity. La Genelotte carries the Meursault-Blagny Premier Cru Monopole designation. Its production includes 12 hours of settling before the juice is racked directly into 228 litre oak barrels.
