The producer
The Grivot family has been in Vosne-Romanée since 1556. Domaine Jean Grivot covers 15 hectares in the village and produces 19 wines, one white and the rest red. Its holdings include Clos de Vougeot, Échézeaux and Richebourg.
Mathilde and Hubert Grivot made their first vintage with Étienne in 2010 and took full control in 2017. Étienne has led the domaine since 1990, continuing a family line that has built its holdings through the Côte de Nuits.
Place and vineyards
Where the wines begin
Vosne-Romanée is the domaine's home village, while its holdings extend through the Côte de Nuits to Clos de Vougeot, Échézeaux and Richebourg. A village name identifies the commune level of Burgundy's hierarchy. A grand cru name identifies a classified vineyard with its own label.
The range therefore moves between wines named for the home village and bottles tied to individual grand cru parcels. The geography appears directly on the bottle through the place name.

Clos de Vougeot 2021 shows cherry and raspberry shaded by smoky oak, spice and mineral flavours. Richebourg 2022 opens with red berry, black truffle and light loamy scents, with plush tannins and acidity carrying its broad flavours. The wider range also includes one white wine.
