Why it matters

The producer

Béziers is home to Domaines Pierre Chavin, founded in 2010 by Mathilde Boulachin and Fabien Gross. Boulachin is founder and president, while Gross owns the company with her and is its winemaker. His background includes Alsatian viticultural heritage, learned through his family.

The house specializes in alcohol removed wines, including sparkling wine. Its broader portfolio covers regional French rosé, white and red wines, with grapes including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Grenache and Syrah.

Place and vineyards

Where the wines begin

The house is based in Béziers in the South of France. Its labels extend across several regional names, from Côtes de Provence rosé and Côtes de Gascogne whites to Pays d'Oc Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon and Languedoc Blanc.

The range therefore moves between rosé, white and red wines from different southern French appellations and regional designations. The grape names remain visible across the portfolio, with Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon appearing in named bottles.

Wines to know

The range in view

The rosé range includes Chavin Côtes de Provence Rosé, Chavin Côtes de Provence Rosé Organic and Chavin Rosé Méditerranée. The whites include Chavin Sauvignon Blanc Côtes de Gascogne, Chavin Languedoc Blanc and Chavin Chardonnay Organic Cuvée Grande Réserve. Chavin Cabernet Sauvignon is the named red in the listed range.

The 2022 Côtes de Gascogne Blanc is a blend of Sauvignon, Colombard and Gros Manseng. It has intense aromas of citrus and exotic fruit, with floral notes. The 2023 Chavin Cabernet Sauvignon is a Pays d'Oc red with ripe stewed red fruit aromas, a smooth mature palate and spice.
