The producer
At Château de Bligny in Bligny-lès-Beaune, Maison Pierre Brisset vinifies and ages its wines. Pierre Brisset began with vines planted with Chardonnay in Chassagne-Montrachet and created the maison to extend production to other Burgundy appellations. Its founding brief was exclusive: Premier Cru and Grand Cru burgundies. Production is deliberately limited across all appellations. The house has one base for cellar work and a range that reaches beyond its starting village.

Chassagne-Montrachet supplied the Chardonnay vines Pierre Brisset owned before the maison widened into other Burgundy appellations. The range reaches Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, with red Pinot Noir and white Chardonnay from Premier Cru and Grand Cru parcels. On a Burgundy label, Premier Cru and Grand Cru identify classified vineyard levels, with Grand Cru above Premier Cru. The classification appears alongside the village and grape name, giving each bottle a place, a variety and a vineyard rank.
