Why it matters
The producer
Takis Soldatos founded Nordic Sea Winery, established by the Oenoforos Group in 2008. He is presented as a pioneer and innovator in the wine industry. Resident winemakers refine the blends and decide when each wine is ready for bottling.
The facility had an annual production capacity of 50 million litres at its June 2014 opening. Its work covers wines sourced from around the world, with the final stages handled in Simrishamn.
Place and vineyards
Where the wines begin
Simrishamn is the Swedish finishing address for wines whose grapes begin in other countries. Harvesting, pressing and fermentation happen in the country of origin before the wine travels to Sweden for refinement, ageing and bottling.
The production model separates origin from finishing cellar. The wine arrives in Simrishamn after fermentation, where blending, maturation and bottling take place.

The range in view
The range spans rosé, red and white wines. Rosé wines include Lisa 1503 Rosato d’artista, Via del Campo Rosado Tempranillo Bobal from VdlT Castilla, and Allegro Organic Rosato. Red wines include Maison Francoise Pinot Noir and Gurra Gurra Creek Shiraz from Lower Murray.
White wines include Maison Francoise Chardonnay, Crudo Catarratto Zibibbo from Terre Siciliane, Crudo Catarratto Zibibbo Organic, Palazzo Mio Grillo, il Nostro Grecanico and Levante Colombard Chardonnay. The range moves between grape names such as Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Chardonnay, Grillo, Grecanico and Colombard, and place names such as VdlT Castilla, Lower Murray and Terre Siciliane.
