Why it matters
The producer
Quinta das Queimas, Unipessoal Lda is led by sisters Cristina and Graça Videira. They took control of the family properties in 2018, launched the Quinta das Queimas wine project, modernized its equipment and introduced new wines while retaining the inherited holdings. Pierre, Marco and Júlia Videira Baldi joined the project in 2024.
The vineyards span old and new plantings, with monovarietal blocks alongside traditional field blends. Some vines were planted between 1920 and 1960.

The range in view
Touriga Nacional 2022 is a varietal wine drawn from Quinta Grande, Quinta do Laranjal and Quinta das Queimas. It fermented for ten days in a granite lagar with foot treading, followed by 14 months in stainless steel and ten months in bottle. Blackberry, ripe plum, violet, bergamot, nutmeg and cinnamon lead into ripe cherry and currant, with a full body and fine, silky tannins.
Encruzado 2022 comes from the Casarão and Portodinho vineyards. The wine fermented for ten days in stainless steel, then spent nine months in stainless steel on fine lees before further bottle ageing. Citrus, tropical fruit and minerality meet natural acidity and a smooth texture. Lemon rind, pineapple and orchard fruit accompany a creamy yet zesty palate, bright acidity and a salty finish.
