Why it matters

The producer

In 2019, brothers Florian and Enguerran Bonnet changed the estate's label and launched the Bonnet-Leconte name as a tribute to their late father, Gérard Bonnet.

Champagne Bonnet-Leconte is a family estate in Troissy-Bouquigny, in the Vallée de la Marne. The estate is a member of Vignerons Indépendants de Champagne and Champagne de Vignerons. Its range specializes in cuvées led by Pinot Meunier.

Place and vineyards

Where the wines begin

Troissy-Bouquigny sits on the left bank of the Marne in the Vallée de la Marne. The estate's grape composition is led by Pinot Meunier, with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay also present.

Wines to know

The range in view

The named wines divide the range by blend and colour. Blanc de noirs means a white Champagne made from dark grapes. Cuvée Spéciale Brut and Sélection Vieilles Vignes use that format. Cuvée Spéciale Brut is made from 75 percent Pinot Meunier and 25 percent Pinot Noir, with part of the wine aged in oak so slow oxygen exposure can broaden the texture. Rosé Brut is made from 100 percent Meunier with red wine for colour.

Cuvée Spéciale Brut shows white flowers, bitter orange, butter and honeyed hints, with a long fresh finish. Sélection Vieilles Vignes opens with mineral and toasted bread, then develops stone fruit, roasted almond and gingerbread. Rosé Brut has a discreet but precise nose of flowers and small red fruits, including redcurrant, raspberry and blackcurrant, with a round, charming palate marked by candy and tart red fruit.
