Why it matters

The producer

Chardonnay leads Champagne Chapuy's work in Oger, a Grand Cru village in the Côte des Blancs. The estate covers 9 hectares and holds HEV certification. Its range includes Blanc de Blancs Champagnes and Brut Tradition, which brings Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier alongside Chardonnay.

The third generation is entirely female. Aurore Chapuy oversees vineyard management and winemaking, while her sister Elodie handles marketing and brand development, with support from their father Arnold.

Place and vineyards

Where the wines begin

Oger is a Grand Cru village in Champagne's Côte des Blancs. The estate's vineyards are distributed between Oger Grand Cru and Coteaux Sud d'Epernay.

Grand Cru on a Champagne label identifies the village classification attached to the grapes. Côte des Blancs is the regional setting for Chapuy's Chardonnay focus, while the wider vineyard distribution supports a range that includes both Blanc de Blancs wines and a cuvée made from three grape varieties.

Wines to know

The range in view

The range separates a mixed grape Brut from Blanc de Blancs bottlings. Brut Tradition is made from 50% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir and 25% Pinot Meunier. Brut Réserve Blanc de Blancs is made from 100% Chardonnay Grand Cru from the Côte des Blancs. Grand Cru Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs is also part of the range.

Brut Tradition has intense, slightly steely Chardonnay flavors, discreet Pinot Noir notes, lightness and fruitiness. Brut Réserve Blanc de Blancs shows subtle Chardonnay aromas with floral notes and a light feel. It pairs with white fish in lemony sauce or scallops with citrus fruit.
