The producer
Cédric and Aurélien Mathelin manage Champagne Mathelin, with Coralie also part of the family operation. The Mathelin family has cultivated vines in Champagne for nine generations, and all wines are produced entirely on the family estate. Harvesting is manual.
The house uses the latest techniques while respecting traditional Champagne methods. It holds Haute Valeur Environnementale certification. Over five years, the estate halved its pesticide use, installed rainwater collection capturing approximately 80,000 liters annually, and shifted vinification largely toward products from organic agriculture.
Place and vineyards
Where the wines begin
Cerseuil is a village a few kilometres from Epernay in the Flagot Valley. The family's vines are cultivated exclusively on the valley's hillsides. Hillside vineyards can drain more readily and receive stronger sunlight than flatter ground, helping grapes ripen while retaining the acidity needed for sparkling wine.

The range in view
The named wines present three distinct parts of the range. Perle de Chardonnay is a 100% Chardonnay cuvée with a pale golden color and light green reflections. Its fine, persistent bubbles carry delicate summer fruit aromas, while the palate offers a lively, velvety and powerful attack with citrus and fresh bread flavours.
Tradition Brut shows an orange hue enhanced by golden reflections. The palate unfolds flavors of citrus marmalade, spiced oranges, cooked fruit and tarte tatin, supported by persistent bubbles and a zesty mousse.
