Canberra District has an extreme continental climate, with warm, dry days and cold summer nights. Most of its vineyards are in New South Wales rather than the Australian Capital Territory. Shiraz commonly shows spice, black cherry and liquorice. Riesling is often crisp and dry, and can develop toasty complexity over many years.
