Tasmania is a wine area within Tasmania, Australia, and Tasmania is its listed appellation. Maritime conditions keep the region cool. Vineyards are concentrated in the island's north and south, with an East Coast stretch from St Helens to Richmond. Pinot Noir leads plantings at about 44 percent and benefits from a long growing season in both red and sparkling wine. Chardonnay brings clean acidity and minerality. Riesling can be sparkling, dry or sweet. Sparkling wine accounted for 38 percent of Tasmania's production in the 2024 vintage.
