West of the main Savoie slopes, Bugey is home to sparkling Cerdon as well as Chardonnay, Altesse, Gamay and Mondeuse. Cerdon is lightly sparkling, often pink and usually gently sweet, made with Gamay and Poulsard. Still wines add Chardonnay, Altesse, Mondeuse, Pinot Noir and Gamay. Limestone hills and cool nights keep the wines fresh. Bugey, Roussette du Bugey and Cerdon are the appellations listed here. Together, they give Bugey its own sparkling and still-wine character within an Alpine-influenced setting.
