Bergerac and the Dordogne may feel familiar to Bordeaux drinkers. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc all appear here, but the appellations give the area its own character. Monbazillac is its sweet-wine landmark, while Pécharmant offers a firmer red identity. Dry whites and reds are also part of the picture. This is a neighbouring wine culture, not Bordeaux under another name.
