Monica is southern Sardinia's most common red grape, with its largest production area between Cagliari, Iglesias and Oristano. Its wines can have blackberry, cherry, red-fruit preserve, delicate spice and sweet-almond notes, with a warm, soft palate. The area's listed appellations also include Cagliari, Cannonau di Sardegna and Vermentino di Sardegna.
