Pantelleria's alberello vines grow in shallow basins that collect rainwater and protect the grapes from wind. UNESCO recognised this cultivation practice in 2014, the first agricultural practice to receive that distinction. Zibibbo is dried in the sun to make sweet Passito di Pantelleria. Pantelleria is the appellation listed for the island.
