Les 10 Crus are the northern Beaujolais village appellations: Moulin-à-Vent, Fleurie, Morgon, Brouilly, Côte de Brouilly, Chiroubles, Chénas, Juliénas, Saint-Amour and Régnié. Here Gamay ranges from floral and silky to more structured, earthy wines that can age. Morgon can be darker and more mineral, while Fleurie is more perfumed. Moulin-à-Vent has the firmest reputation for ageing. Brouilly is generous, and Côte de Brouilly takes its character from a volcanic hill. Each name gives Gamay a slightly different setting.
