Friuli Grave (Central Gravelly Plain)

Friuli Grave is a broad gravelly plain on both sides of the Tagliamento River. Its stony Magredi, or Grave, soils favor fresh white wines including Ribolla Gialla and Pinot Grigio.

Friuli Grave covers about 7,500 hectares on both sides of the Tagliamento River in the provinces of Udine and Pordenone. Its high plain has stony alluvial soils known as Magredi or Grave. This gravelly ground favors fresh white wines, including Ribolla Gialla and Pinot Grigio. The listed appellations are Friuli Grave and Friuli.
