Columbia Valley crosses the Oregon border into a much larger growing region centered on Washington. The AVA's broad label can cover very different wines, so the producer is a useful guide when choosing a bottle. Cabernet can show dark fruit and bright herbal notes, while Merlot can show red fruit and mint.
