The Mâconnais is Bourgogne's southern Chardonnay area, centred on Mâcon, Pouilly-Fuissé and Saint-Véran. Its other listed appellations are Pouilly-Loché, Pouilly-Vinzelles, Viré-Clessé, Mâcon-Villages and Mâcon. It is warmer and broader than Chablis or the Côte d'Or. Pouilly-Fuissé is the key name, with premier cru sites now part of its story.
