Bizeljsko Sremič is officially part of Slovenia's Posavje winegrowing region. The area has hand-dug sand cellars known as repnice, or turnip caves, and produces both red and white Bizeljčan. Blaufränkisch is gaining recognition here, while Kölner Blauer, Rumeni plavec, Chardonnay and Pinot noir can be used for sparkling wines. Bizeljsko Sremič is protected as a wine name with Protected Designation of Origin status.
