The Croatian Uplands lie in Central Croatia's hilly hinterland, between the Alpine and Dinaric hill systems. The six named wine areas do not share one fixed style. Moslavina is closely tied to the indigenous white Škrlet, with its delicate, strongly aromatic profile, while Međimurje's Pušipel appears in standard, late, selected and ice-harvest wines.
Plešivica grows Rhine Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, as well as Portugizac and Pinot Noir. Pokuplje follows the lower Kupa through low rolling country, and Prigorje-Bilogora reaches the foothills of Medvednica, Kalnik and Bilogora. Moslavina, Plešivica, Pokuplje, Prigorje-Bilogora, Zagorje-Međimurje and Zapadna kontinentalna Hrvatska are protected EU wine-origin names.
