Gard sits on Languedoc's eastern edge, where the region begins to lean toward the Rhône. Costières de Nîmes covers a broad alluvial plain of galets roulés, the rounded stones also found in Châteauneuf-du-Pape to the north. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre make the reds, and rosé is an important part of production. Clairette de Bellegarde and Languedoc are also listed within Gard. In the garrigue hills above Nîmes, Domaine Roc d'Anglade makes Grenache-dominant blends.
