Aude covers a broad sweep of Languedoc, from mountain wind to Mediterranean heat. Corbières lies in rocky hills and produces reds from Carignan, Grenache and Syrah. Minervois is in the northern foothills of the Montagne Noire, while Fitou has maritime schist near the Leucate lagoon and higher slopes inland. La Clape is a limestone massif near Narbonne, known here for sea-wind whites and fuller coastal reds. In the southern highlands, Limoux uses Chardonnay and Mauzac for still and sparkling wine. Corbières-Boutenac, Minervois-La Livinière, Malepère, Cabardès and Blanquette de Limoux are also listed within Aude.
