Salento Peninsula is a wine area within Apulia. The Negroamaro lands lie in central Salento between the Ionian and Adriatic Seas, across Lecce, Brindisi and Taranto provinces. Mild winters and hot, dry summers shape the climate, while cool night breezes and strong day-to-night temperature swings moderate the summer heat. The Terre del Negroamaro territory is associated with clay soils. Listed appellations include Alezio, Copertino, Galatina, Leverano, Matino, Nardò, Negroamaro di Terra d'Otranto, Salice Salentino, Squinzano and Terra d'Otranto.
