The Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio Classic Zone is a wine area within Marche. Its listed appellations include Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio Riserva, Esino and Lacrima di Morro. Historic Classico hillsides around Cupramontana give the wines greater depth and definition. Young Verdicchio can show green and red apple, pear and white pepper; mature examples may move toward yellow plum, quince and resinous herbs. Castelli di Jesi can also produce Riserva DOCG wines that require extended ageing.
