Across the Tanaro from the Langhe, Roero has sandier soils that soften Nebbiolo. Arneis provides the area's white-wine counterpart, and its vineyards are part of the UNESCO-protected cultural landscapes shared with Langhe and Monferrato. Roero Arneis must contain at least 95% Arneis. It can show peach, pear, almond and floral notes, though low acidity and quick oxidation are also possible. Roero DOCG includes Roero, Roero Riserva, Roero Arneis and Roero Arneis Spumante.
