The Verona hills produce Corvina-based reds that run from light Bardolino to Valpolicella and Amarone. In Amarone, dried grapes turn cherry fruit into extra richness and alcohol. The area includes Amarone della Valpolicella, Bardolino, Recioto della Valpolicella, Valpolicella and Valpolicella Ripasso. Valpolicella itself is divided into Classica, Valpantena and the wider Valpolicella DOC zone.
